ABB REF615R Feeder protection and control Application

Application

The REF615R provides main protection for overhead lines,

cable feeders, and busbar systems of distribution substations.

It can be applied for protection and control of grounded and

ungrounded distribution systems.

One configuration tailored to meet and exceed these DPU2000R

ANSI and IEC configurations:

− Standard:  587R… (ANSI); 687R…(IEC)

− Synch Check:  587C…(ANSI); 687C…(IEC)

− SEF:  587E…(ANSI); 687E…(IEC)

The REF615R is a dedicated feeder IED perfectly aligned

for the protection, control, measurement, and supervi

sion of utility substations and industrial power systems.

The REF615R is designed for users looking for a 19” rack

mount form of ABB’s Relion® REF615. The REF615R utilizes

the same form and fit as the DPU2000R relay and provides

exact wire-alike matching rear terminals. This wire-alike

feature makes the REF615R the ideal solution for upgrad

ing to the industry’s latest technologies. The REF615R is

a member of ABB’s Relion family and part of its 615 pro

tection and control product series. The 615 series IEDs

are characterized by their compact, withdrawable design.

Engineered from the ground up, the 615 series has been

designed to unleash the full potential of the IEC 61850

standard for communication and interoperability of substa

tion automation devices while providing Modbus® and DNP

simultaneously in one standard configuration.

ABB S800 I/O System for Compact Product Suite Outline of all modules

S800 I/O is a comprehensive, distributed and modular process I/O system

that communicates with parent controllers over industry-standard field buses.

Thanks to its broad connectivity it fits a wide range

of process controllers from ABB and other vendors.

By permitting installation in the field, close to sensors and

actuators, S800 I/O reduces the installation cost by reducing

the cost of cabling. And thanks to features such as “hot swap”

of modules, “on-line” reconfiguration and redundancy options,

it contributes to keeping production – and thereby profits – up.

different communication modules, S800 IO modules, module

termination units, AC 800M controllers, power supplies and

voters, panels and also print your own pdf files.

The TU842 MTU can have up to 16 I/O channels and 2+2 process

voltage connections. Each channel has two I/O connections and one

ZP connection. The maximum rated voltage is 50 V and maximum

rated current is 3 A per channel.

The MTU distributes the two ModuleBuses to each I/O module and to

the next MTU. It also generates the correct address to the I/O

modules by shifting the outgoing position signals to the next MTU.

The MTU can be mounted on a standard DIN rail. It has a mechanical

latch that locks the MTU to the DIN rail.

Four mechanical keys, two for each I/O module, are used to configure

the MTU for different types of I/O modules. This is only a mechanical

configuration and it does not affect the functionality of the MTU or

the I/O module. Each key has six positions, which gives a total

number of 36 different configurations.

Features and benefits

• Complete instalation of I/O modules using 3-wire connections and field power distribution.

• Up to 16 channels of field signals and process power connections.

• Connections to two ModuleBuses and I/O modules.

• Mechanical keying prevents insertion of the wrong I/O module.

• Latching device to DIN rail for grounding.

• DIN rail mounting

The TU891 is a compact MTU for the S800 I/O. The MTU is a passive

unit used for connection of the field wiring and power supply to

the I/O modules. It also contains a part of the ModuleBus. The

TU891 MTU has gray terminals for field signals and process voltage

connections. The maximum rated voltage is 50 V and maximum

rated current is 2 A per channel, but these are primarily constrained

to specific values by the design of the I/O modules for their

certified application.

The MTU distributes the ModuleBus to the I/O module and to the

next MTU. It also generates the correct address to the I/O module

by shifting the outgoing position signals to the next MTU.

• Intrinsic safety applications – use with AI890. AI893. AI895. AO890. AO895. DI890 and DO890

• Compact installations of I/O modules

• Field signals and process power connections

• Connections to ModuleBus and I/O modules

• Mechanical keying prevents insertion of the wrong module

Best Availability

Can your process controller keep up with system demands?

Many of today’s controllers take hundreds of milliseconds or more to switch over in the event of a fault or other system event.

Often controllers are also limited in real I/O connections due to bottlenecks in overall data collection. Eliminate delays by

combining RX3i and PROFINET to get gigabit speed everywhere and bumpless switchover.

Choose RX3i high availability and prevent unexpected failure and costly downtime.

Emerson CPE200 Series Labor Saving Open Programming and Fleet Management

Labor Saving Open Programming

and Fleet Management

For many companies, expert technical talent is hard to find,

hard to keep, and expensive. To combat this triple threat,

an effective strategy when it comes to automation is to seek

solutions which not only save time but can also be effectively

used by a larger talent pool.

That’s why in addition to supporting traditional IEC 61131

languages, the RSTi-EP CPE200 compact controllers also

natively support C, one of the world’s most popular and

easiest-to-use programming languages. This makes it faster

and easier for more engineers to write and run the high-

performance algorithms that enable proprietary production

strategies and advanced automation technologies.

Another labor-saving feature is the capability to execute

fleet-wide application commissioning and updates without

ever connecting a laptop. Simply store application variables

to an SD card from User Logic to enable portable individual

unit tuning parameters on standardized machine control

application deployments.  Use these for deploying

standardized tuning parameters across a set of machines

or for toolless controller replacement in the unlikely

event of a failure.

One Runtime. One Tool Chain.

Since the PACSystems RSTi-EP CPE200 compact controllers

use the same runtime as existing RX3i controllers, users can

leverage their existing application libraries and templates

while scaling footprint and performance for smaller application

installations. Fast, easy-to-configure PACSystems technology

and an extensive range of native I/O options support scalable

automation and highly distributed modular machine designs.
