Introduction

The purpose of this application note is to explain the steps required to get an ABB motion drive operating in conjunction with an

AC servo motor and ‘tuned’ to achieve the best possible performance. Although some references are made to induction motor

parameters, setup and tuning of induction motors is covered by a separate application note.

MicroFlex e190 and MotiFlex e180 motion drives

The MicroFlex e190 and MotiFlex e180 are sophisticated servo drives which have been designed to meet

the requirements ofboth de-centralised single axis intelligent solutions and centralised multi-axis systems,

providing high performance in an economically priced device.

They provide an ideal solution to many machine applications and are ideal components for machine

builders and system integrators.

In this application note we will describe the commissioning process for a MotiFlex e180. The process is

almost identical for a MicroFlex e190 drive so references in this document to MotiFlex e180 are generally

interchangeable with MicroFlex e190 unless stated otherwise.

ABB ACQ580 Drives for water and wastewater Typical applications

The ACQ580 is available in both normal and heavy-duty

ratings. Normal duty ratings provide a 110% short term

overload rating for one minute every ten minutes. Heavy

duty ratings provide a 150% short term overload rating for

ABB ACQ580 Drives for water and wastewater Feel the Power

Feel the Power

ACQ580 drives are designed for customers who value reliability,

high quality, and robustness. With embedded pump functionality,

the ACQ580 keeps the pump system operating optimally and

efficiently. Product features, such as coated boards and optional

compact UL Type 12 enclosures, make the ACQ580 suitable for harsh conditions.

All ACQ580 drives are current-rated devices. The HP ratings

provided are for reference only and are based on typical

4-pole motors at nominal voltages (NEC Table 430.250). If

full motor torque is required, ensure the drive has a

continuous current rating equal to, or greater than the full

load amp rating of the motor.

ABB AC800M and S800 IO Voting Units

Voting Units

The Voting Units SS822Z, SS823 and SS833 have been

specifically designed to be employed as a control

unit within a redundant power supply configuration. The output connections from two Power Supply

Units are connected to the Voting Unit. The Voting

Unit separates the redundant Power Supply Units, supervises the voltage supplied, and generates supervision signals to be connected to the power consumer.

Green LED’s, mounted on the front panel of the voting unit, provide a visual indication that the correct

output voltage is being delivered. Simultaneously

with the green LED illuminating, a voltage free contact closes the path to the corresponding “OK connector”. Voting Unit trip levels, are factory preset.

High Integrity

The AC 800M High Integrity and the connected S880

High Integrity I/O system (including field power)

shall be supplied from a SELV or PELV power supply

(e.g. SD83x) connected through the power voter

SS823. The SS823 Voting Unit has double overvoltage protection circuit, limiting the output voltage to

max 30 VDC. It is also able to detect both short and

open circuit in the voting element.

The SS822Z and SS823 units is also G3 compliant.
