The new hardware features powerful CPUs for control plane and management operations.

The software has many new features such as role-based access,

secure user and password management, brute force attack protection, audit trails and user-readable

event logs.

There is also a new HTML5 web interface that can be accessed through the Network Device Command

Centre,making it easy to upgrade the switch software.

The next-generation switch also offers more flexible configuration options.

Simply provide the switch name and description and select a few setup parameters

and the switch will begin reporting. A serial connection is no longer required to configure the switch.

Automatic reporting of network alarms and diagnostics to DeltaV workstations.

Operators and maintenance stations will automatically receive device

alerts that indicate abnormal network communications.

The DeltaV Network Device Command Centre application provides an interface for

diagnosing and troubleshooting network problems.

All of this is built-in, eliminating the need for third-party applications for network monitoring.
