Eaton XI/ON I/O system

Eaton’s decentralized I/O system XI/ON included the XN… and XNE…

and the corresponding accessories.

The XN300 system, which was introduced as the successor to the

XI/ON I/O system, enables flexible expansion of the local function

level of the new XControl controller generation as well as use as remote

I/O via communication gateways. The universal use of the XN300 I/O

system for the local and decentralized I/O level reduces the variety of

devices and simplifies engineering. In addition, the IO configuration

can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of your automation solution

with all XN300 I/O modules.

In decentralized applications, the XN300 I/O modules can be integrated

into standardized CANopen and EtherCAT communication networks via

gateways, allowing the XN300 system to be used with any PLC and

providing a modern replacement for the XION series.

The flexible XControl system includes the modular XC-303. XC-204 and 

XC-104 PLCs, which can be combined with the XN300 I/O modules and

gateways, as well as the XSOFT-CODESYS-3 programming software.

Via the CANopen and EtherCAT gateway, the XN300 can be integrated at fieldbus

level to create powerful systems that meet the requirements of demanding applications.

High-speed backplane communication links enables reaction times of less than 1 ms

and a maximum number of 640 channels. EtherCAT communication allows for

maximum machine productivity, making your application both efficient and future-proof.

XN300-Assist

The XN300-Assist software tool supports the planning and commissioning of the XN300

modules. In addition to online features, such as the reading and setting of signal states 

and parameters, important auxiliary functions, including a validity check, can be performed offline.

In combination with our powerful XC300 modular PLC, the XN300 system enables you

to quickly and effectively implement compact automation solutions. Thanks to its CAN

and EtherCAT interfaces, the XC300 can be used as a local or remote I/O to support

the implementation of universal solutions based on the XN300 system.

The possibility of combining different modules as required turns the XN300

into the ideal system solution for a broad range of applications. The basic

product portfolio also includes gateway modules that support all Eaton I/O

system components. Digital modules, which can be used both as input/output

and relay modules, enable multiple application options. Analog input/output and

multi-functional modules, which can perform mixed functions, are also available.

Technology modules, which can, for example, be used for weighing, counting or

to drive motors, further expand the scope of application.

Easy and flexible installation

The XN300 modules can be easily installed on DIN rails by means of a locking

hook – no additional tools required. This simplifies installation and enables

the rapid replacement of individual modules. To get the system operational,

all you need to do is to plug the cables into the push-in connector.

Eaton XN300 I/O system

Our ultra-compact, slice-based XN300 I/O system with push-in connectors

and high connection density can be used as a local I/O level for the Eaton

XC300 PLC or, via gateways, as a remote I/O level in CAN and EtherCAT networks.

In combination with our HMI/PLC products, it enables modern automation solutions

for the production of standard machines. Various models and the application-oriented

functions of the I/O modules increase flexibility, reduce equipment costs and enable

customized system solutions while keeping the footprint to a minimum.

The user-friendly installation of the cutting-edge I/O slices simplifies handling

and enables the I/O block and the sensors and actuators to be pre-assembled.

The plug-in connections and the clear signal assignment simplify commissioning

The XC300 PLC integrates seamlessly into existing automation solutions and

also enables new, innovative machine and system concepts based on

Industry 4.0. User administration, segmentation, encryption and certificate-based

authentication based on current standards in communication and security technology

(TLS/IPSec) protect against unauthorized access to the machine and manipulation

of the user program. The device also supports CODESYS visualization via the

HTML 5 WEB server (https) and password-protected access to the file system (sftp).

The OPC-UA server for M2M communication for remote operation and maintenance

complements the communication profile for the perfect entry into the world of industry 4.0.

Eaton The XC152 supports the proven SmartWire-DT communication system

Flexible visualization

Diagnostic and other information from the machine module can be displayed on a central

HMI or an industrial PC using the web visualization function. The web visualization as well as

the PLC function are programmed using CODESYS 2 or 3. Remote visualization options

are available using CODESYS resp. GALILEO.

Comprehensive interfaces

The XC152 offers various communication interfaces, including: SmartWire-DT, CAN, RS232.

RS485. Profibus and Ethernet. Via the Ethernet interface, data can also be exchanged with

OPC clients, thereby facilitating the connection to a central control and visualization system.

Integrated solutions

The XC152 supports the proven SmartWire-DT communication system. It thus enables the

saving of control current wiring to the sensors and actuators and simplifies commissioning

through improved diagnostic options. Costs for design, commissioning and maintenance

are significantly reduced.
