Motorola ACE3600 VERSATILE COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES

VERSATILE COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITIES

You want every opportunity to save money and optimize performance.

The ACE3600 RTU is designed to use a variety of digital and analog interfaces so you are never locked

into proprietary solutions.

This flexible communications capability enables the ACE3600 to connect with several local devices,

analyze the data and send that information to various other locations.

Data transmission and processing is supported simultaneously across multiple communication

media and industry standard data protocols including MODBUS, M-OPC, DNP 3 and IEC60870-5-101.

Motorola’s own MDLC data processing protocol is specifically designed to enable more efficient data

communication.

Transmit data over your narrowband radio network or utilize a broadband network and realize significant

data cost savings.

Furthermore, every RTU in your network can act as a communication node and/or a store and forward

data repeater to extend radio frequency coverage and save you the much higher cost of a dedicated

repeater.

Emerson M-series MD Plus Controller

Has the flexibility to meet your needs

Advanced operations. The MD Plus Controller is equipped to handle the DeltaV Batch option,

as well as advanced control functions.

You can also use advanced control function such as Neural and Model Predictive Control on the MD Plus controller.

Data pass-through. The controller is equipped with the ability to pass smart HART

 information from field devices to any workstation node in the control network.

This means you can take advantage of applications, such as Asset Management Solutions,

that enable you to remotely manage the HART information contained

in your HART or FOUNDATION fieldbus-equipped devices.

Prepares you for the future. As your system grows, you can expand your software license

to increase the number of device signal tags (DSTs) allocated to the DeltaV controller.

egin with 50 and expand to 750 DSTs. Control strategy complexity and control module

scan rates determine overall controller performance and application size.

A redundant controller may be added to back up an MD Plus Controller online.

The standby controller comes online automatically, with a bumpless transition.

For more information, refer to the I/O Redundancy product data sheet.

Emerson M-series MD Plus Controller Benefits-Easy to use

Easy to use

Total control. The controller manages all control activities for the I/O interface channels.

It also manages all communication functions for the communications network.

Time tamping, alarming, and trend objects are also managed within the controller.

The controller executes all control strategy with execution speeds up to every 100 ms.

Data protection. Each time you install data in a DeltaV controller, the installation information is automatically saved.

Likewise, when users make online configuration changes to a controller, the system stores these changes as well.

This way, the system always retains a complete record of all the data

that has been installed in the controller and any online changes that have been made.

Cold restart. This feature ensures that in case of power failure, the controller will restart without

manual intervention and without any other device present on the network.

Now, you don’t have to reboot from the workstation.

Simply set the restart state of the controller to current conditions.

Note: To prevent process disruption during a short power loss,

an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is available for the controller.

When redundancy is enabled, each module calculates the updates required by the standby controller.

These updates are transmitted to the standby controller via the redundant link.

These additional operations of controller redundancy Redundancy typically reduces CPU idle time by

about 10%. About 10 percent.

When a failure is detected, the standby controller can take over without affecting the process control

signals.

The DeltaV Event Chronicle stores a record of each switchover and the reason for the switchover, if a

reason has been determined.

Replacing an existing standby controller is as simple as removing the existing unit and installing a new
