Motorola MVME5500 Single Board Computers

The MVME5500 series is designed to meet the needs of OEMs, including those in the defence, aerospace, industrial automation and transportation sectors.

Customers who need to maintain backward compatibility with their existing VMEbus infrastructure while updating the technology for their applications can upgrade to the MVME5500 Series and take advantage of its enhanced performance features.

Backward compatibility

The MVME5500 continues the direction SMART EC has taken since the MVME5100 series, which is to provide a migration path from SMART EC’s embedded controllers and single board computers (SBCs) to a single platform.

This migration path enables OEMs to support different I/O requirements using the same base platform, simplifying part number maintenance, expertise requirements and resource sharing.

The MVME5500 series provides customers with dcs-sis.com a migration path from the MVME2300. MVME2400. MVME2600. MVME2700 and MVME5100 boards.

They can take advantage of features such as the MPC7455 processor, Gigabit Ethernet and dual independent 33/66 MHz PMC stations.

Transition Module

The MVME761 Transition Module provides industry-standard connector access to IEEE 1284 parallel, 10BaseT or 100BaseT ports via RJ-45 connectors.

Applications

The line transformer 500LTD01 is designed for FSK channels in the 50 Bd to 2400 Bd range.

It is used to isolate and protect the RTU500 series modems 23WT23. 23WT25 and 560FSM10 from remote control lines.

In addition, it can be connected to other data terminal equipment.

It is optimised for wire-first communication with a frequency range of 300 Hz to 3400 Hz and a line impedance of 600 ohms for the above modems.

All three types of modems allow high-resistance interleaving on lines such as party lines and multisplit lines.

This is because the line transformer has no additional load on the line.

In configurations using full duplex communication channels, two line transformers are required, one for the transmit direction and the other for the receive direction.

IC200MDL930 8-Point Relay Output Module for VersaMax I/O Series

The IC200MDL930 contact output is essentially a dry contact output. It requires an external supply voltage source to conduct the proper voltage to the connected electrical load.

It can be used for resistive or conductive loads, but it is recommended that conductive loads, external protection or suppression circuits (such as fuses) be installed.

Output contacts are rated at a minimum of 10mA per point; 2.0A for 5 to 265 VAC, max; 2.0A at 5 to 30 VDC, 0.2A at 31 to 125 VDC, max.

All current ratings are resistive load ratings. In addition, the nominal external supply voltage ratings for the contact outputs are 5/24/125 VDC and 120/240 VAC.

The IC200MDL930 has a maximum backplane current consumption of 245 mA when all outputs are energised.

The module is equipped with a separate channel indicator to describe the energised state of each output channel.

It also has a separate module OK LED indicator to indicate the active power received by the module from the backplane power supply.

The IC200MDL930 module is an 8-point output module manufactured by GE Fanuc. It is part of the Versamax family.

The output points of the module are individually isolated. The output module draws 245 mA of power from the baseboard with all outputs active.

The IC200MDL930 module is fully compatible with AC and DC loads. Each of the module’s eight points has its own LED indicating field power through those points.

The module contacts are closed by default during module activation. At this time the output bit is set to 1. The module is easy to install when using the rack mounting method on a baseboard.

The output module is certified to CE, cULus and other industry standards. It is used for global settings.

The IC200MDL930 output module is an intelligent device that performs faster processing than other similar modules.

This output module has no output leakage current. Each point relay is designed with a fixed coil and an armature.

Instructions

Method A – Installing a New Module into an Existing 500 Series I/O Adapter

Chassis

1. Disconnect power to the Series 500 chassis

2. Remove the 500-5037A/47A to be upgraded. 

3. Install the 2500-IADP into the slot where the 500 module was removed.

4. Configure the 2558/2562 to match the 500 module to be replaced .

5. Install the 2558/2562 into the 2500-IADP .

6. Connect the edge card connector of the 2500-ADP1 to the existing 5037A / 5047A field wiring connector.

(The screen label on the 2500-ADP1 indicates a 5037A / 5047A field wiring connector).

Connect the edge card connector of the 2500-ADP1 to the existing 5037A / 5047A field wiring connector.

(The screen label on the edge card connector shows pin 1 and pin A.)

7. Remove any 250 ohm resistors that may be installed in the 5037A / 5047A field wiring connector. 2558 / 2562 do not require these resistors.

8. Connect the 40F connector to the 2558/2562.

9. Restore power to the rack.

Method B – Installing a New Module into a New 2500 SeriesTM Base

1. Disconnect power to the 500 Series chassis. 

2. Remove the 500-5037A/47A to be upgraded.

3. Configure the 2558/2562 to match the 500 module to be replaced. 

4. Install the 2558/2562 into the 2500 SeriesTM base.

5. Connect the edge card connector of the 2500-ADP1 to the existing 5037A / 5047A field wiring connector (The screen label on the edge card connector shows pin 1 and pin A.)

6. remove any 250 ohm resistors that may be installed in the 5037A / 5047A field wiring connector. 2558 / 2562 do not require these resistors.

7. Connect the 40F connector to the 2558 / 2562. 

8. Restore power to the rack.

The SDSL port can be used to connect copper stations with a maximum distance of 20 km (0.8 mm diameter).

Depending on the SFP modules fitted, the device can achieve spans of up to 40 km over fibre-optic cables.

The switch provides a redundant topology via (fast) spanning tree protocol.

For documentation purposes, the Ethernet ports are labelled 1 to 4. The SDSL ports are connected via snap-in connectors.

There is no specific uplink port. All ports are functionally identical.

The link and speed status of each Ethernet port and SDSL port is indicated by the status indicators on the right (see ‘Connectors and Indicators’).

SFP-related indicators are located on the left.

The switch learns the Ethernet address by analysing incoming frames and stores it in a lookup table

(up to 2048 entries), which is used to forward the frame to the correct port only.

If a broadcast or multicast frame is received, or if the destination address is not found in the lookup table, the

The 560NMD11 uses a wide-range power supply and operates from 24 to 60 V. The switch itself, the Ethernet ports, and the Ethernet ports can be connected to the switch.
