Siemens SIJECT CI16iP StepB 6AT1131-6DF21-0AB0 Compact Control System Overview

The Siemens SIJECT CI16iP StepB with order number 6AT1131-6DF21-0AB0 is a compact control system

designed for industrial automation applications, particularly in specialized machinery such as injection

molding machines.

This controller integrates advanced features to ensure reliable operation, precise control, and seamless

integration with industrial networks.

Key Features

Hardware Configuration

The SIJECT CI16iP StepB is equipped with a built-in CPU 314 core, which provides robust processing

capabilities for real-time control tasks. The controller supports modular I/O expansion,

allowing users to tailor the system to specific application requirements.

Key components include:

Memory Card Slot: Supports MMC storage cards (e.g., 6AT1131-0GA00-0AA0) for program storage and

data logging.

Communication Interfaces: Includes RS232 and MPI ports for connectivity

with programming devices (e.g., PC/MPI adapter 6ES7972-0CA23-0XA0).

Programming and Software Support

The controller is programmed using STEP 7 V5.x (e.g., 6ES7810-4CC05-0YX0),

a legacy but widely used software platform for Siemens PLCs. Key programming considerations include:

GSD File Requirement: Users may encounter challenges if the corresponding GSD file is missing during

hardware configuration in STEP 7.

Firmware Compatibility: The controller supports firmware versions up to V2.8 (older models)

or V3.0 (newer models).

Mismatched firmware versions may lead to connection errors, such as “Online: No other active partner

can be found.”

A-B ControlLogix® digital I/O modules

ControlLogix® digital I/O modules are input and output modules that provide

On/Off detection and actuation. By using the producer/consumer network

model, digital I/O modules can produce information when needed while

providing additional system functions.

I/O modules in a ControlLogix system can be owned by a Logix5000™

controller. An owner-controller fulfills these functions:

• Stores configuration data for every module that it owns

• Sends I/O modules configuration data to define module behavior and

begin module operation with the control system

• Resides in a local or remote chassis in regard to the I/O module position

Each ControlLogix I/O module must continuously maintain communication

with its owner-controller to operate normally.

Typically, each module in the system has only one owner-controller.

Input modules can have more than one owner-controller.

Output modules, however, are limited to a single owner-controller.

A-B ControlLogix System Bulletin 1756

ControlLogix System Overview

The ControlLogix system provides discrete, drives, motion, process,

and safety control together with communication and state-of-the-art I/O in a small, cost-competitive package.

The system is modular, so you can design, build, and modify it efficiently with significant

savings in training and engineering. A simple ControlLogix system consists

of a standalone controller and I/O modules in one chassis.

For a more comprehensive system, use the following:

• Multiple controllers in one chassis

• Multiple controllers joined across networks

• I/O in multiple platforms that are distributed in many locations and connected over multiple I/O links

• Select ControlLogix products are available with a conformal coating that adds a layer

of protection when exposed to harsh, corrosive environments.

Products with a conformal coating have a ‘K’ suffix at the end of the catalog number.

The ControlLogix controller is part of the Logix 5000™ family of controllers.

• ControlLogix controllers can monitor and control I/O across the ControlLogix backplane, and over I/O links.

ControlLogix controllers can communicate over EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, DH+™,

Remote I/O, and RS-232-C (DF1/DH-485 protocol) networks and many third-party process and device networks.

• The controller can be placed into any slot of a ControlLogix chassis and

multiple controllers can be installed in the same chassis.

Multiple controllers in the same chassis communicate with each other over

the backplane (just as controllers can communicate over networks) but operate independently.

• To provide communication for a ControlLogix 5570 controller,

install the appropriate communication interface module into the chassis.

ControlLogix 5580 controllers have a built-in EtherNet/IP port.

Prosoft AN-X2-ABRIO-EIPSCN Cabling and Termination

Cabling and Termination

Follow Allen-Bradley cabling recommendations for remote I/O. Refer to Approved

Vendor List for DH, DH+, DH-485. and Remote I/O Cables, publication ICCG-2.2.

February 1996.

On the AN-X module, the connections should be line 1. shield, line 2.

Ethernet Configuration

The AN-X2-ABRIO-EIPSCN module connects a controller on remote I/O such as a

PLC-5 to scan I/O modules on Ethernet.

Before you can use the AN-X2-ABRIO-EIPSCN, you must configure its network

properties on Ethernet.

Ethernet Configuration

AN-X can be configured:

• to use a static (unchanging) IP address

• to obtain its IP address from a DHCP server

• to use the fixed link-local address 169.254.42.84

AN-X modules are shipped with the link-local address 169.254.42.84.

Unless you have control of the DHCP server, in most applications you will assign the

AN-X a static IP address. Otherwise the DHCP server may assign a different IP address

each time AN-X powers up, and any software that accesses the AN-X module would have

to be reconfigured.

If you are using multiple AN-X modules, connect and configure one at a time, since

initially they will all be set to the same link-local IP address.
