Emerson AMS 2140 The Four-Channel Advantage

The Four-Channel Advantage

While the AMS 2140 is available in single and dual channel

options, it is the four-channel option that delivers the most

advantages to a predictive maintenance program. The

AMS 2140 is one of the fastest collectors in the industry

when collecting a measurement point. With four-channel

capabilities, speed through the data collection route is

increased even more. And unlike other four-channel units

on the market, the AMS 2140 delivers all four channels

when you need them the most – critical equipment startup

and troubleshooting diagnostics.

Having the information you need for advanced diagnostics

faster allows you to move more quickly towards identifying

machinery faults or determining if it is safe to continue

startup of turbo machinery.

Emerson’s AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer

• Includes new PeakVue Plus technology for earliest and simplest indication of bearing

degradation and severity

• Ergonomically designed to make long days in the field easier

• Four-channel data collection, vibration

analysis, balancing and motor diagnostics in a single unit

• Monitor a broad range of machinery from variable speed equipment, complex

gearboxes, high speed compressors and sleeve bearing turbo machinery

• Pre-configured analysis experts to easily test and diagnose your toughest issues

• Transfer data easily to and push updates from AMS Machine Works software

In addition to providing fast, actionable information, an effective solution must take advantage of modern

communication and interface innovations that make tasks easier and more intuitive.

Emerson’s AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer was designed specifically with these goals in mind.

Upload route data and corrective maintenance jobs from the field to AMS Machine

Works for analysis and reporting or push updates to AMS 2140 units in the field using

assisted smart routes.

Alerts generated in AMS Machine Works can be exported automatically to AMS Optics where they are

combined with alerts from other monitored plant assets to provide a unified view of your plant’s health.

Together, the AMS 2140 and asset performance management tools deliver

the predictive intelligence necessary for increasing availability and reliability in the plant.

Emerson AMS 2140 Mechanical Health™ Analyser Overview

Overview

In today’s economy, plants are continually looking for ways to remain competitive in the market place.

For maintenance departments, this often translates into fewer staff and smaller budgets.

In this do-more-with-less environment, maintenance personnel can’t afford to continuously chase

the next breakdown. They need to quickly and accurately identify developing faults and determine the

root cause of the machinery problem so it can be fixed.

The AMS 2140 is the next generation in a family of industry-leading vibration analyzers and data

collectors from Emerson. As with previous models, the AMS 2140 can provide:

• Route vibration collection

• Advanced vibration analysis

• Cross-channel analysis

• Transient analysis

• Dynamic balancing

• Motor monitoring

• ODS modal analysis

In addition to providing fast, actionable information, an effective solution must take advantage of modern

communication and interface innovations that make tasks easier and more intuitive.

Emerson’s AMS 2140 Machinery Health Analyzer was designed specifically with these goals in mind.

Emerson AMS 2140 Versatile advanced diagnostics improve machine health

Versatile advanced diagnostics improve machine health

The AMS 2140 offers the industry’s most complete set of features to quickly

and accurately assess the health of rotating machinery.

Even the most complex machinery in your facility. With the AMS 2140

You can perform single-, dual-, or quad-channel vibration analysis,

cross-channel analysis, transient analysis, structural analysis, balancing, and motor monitoring.

The analyser’s embedded intelligence guides you through advanced diagnostic tools,

providing pre-configured menus and preset technology settings.

Troubleshooting documentation in the AMS 2140 helps with initial analysis,

and AMS Suite integrates with the analyser for more in-depth analysis of data.

Take only one tool to the field

When you head out to the field on a collection mission, you don’t want to have to carry multiple tools.

The AMS 2140 provides you with a single platform that enables you to perform a wide range of machine

health tests.

Balancing, temperature trending, and motor diagnostic functions coexist with vibration analysis tools.

Data from all of these tests is loaded into a database that allows you to trend the data from the various

tests.

This gives you a more complete picture of the machine’s condition and predicts when corrective

maintenance is required.

The AMS 2140 is suitable for a wide range of rotating equipment, including variable speed machines,

complex gearboxes,

low speed equipment, turbomachinery, sleeve bearings, gearboxes, and more.

equipment, turbomachinery, sleeve bearing machinery and reciprocating compressors.

Emerson DeltaV™ Smart Switches Fully managed by DeltaV

Fully managed by DeltaV.

The DeltaV Switch Commissioning application automatically

discovers the switch in the Network Device Command Centre

(formerly the Smart Switch Command Centre) when the switch is started.

Network addresses are automatically assigned by DeltaV DCS or by

the user when installed in a DeltaV 2.5 network (new in DeltaV v13.3).

Simply provide the switch name and description and select a few setup parameters

and the switch will begin reporting. A serial connection is no longer required to configure the switch.

Automatic reporting of network alarms and diagnostics to DeltaV workstations.

Operators and maintenance stations will automatically receive device

alerts that indicate abnormal network communications.

The DeltaV Network Device Command Centre application provides an interface for

diagnosing and troubleshooting network problems.

All of this is built-in, eliminating the need for third-party applications for network monitoring.

Emerson DeltaV™ Smart Switches Enhanced security

Benefits

Enhanced security.

The new generation of DeltaV Smart Switches is based

on a more powerful hardware and software platform with an increased focus on security.

The new hardware features powerful CPUs for control plane and management operations.

The software has many new features such as role-based access,

secure user and password management, brute force attack protection, audit trails and user-readable

event logs.

There is also a new HTML5 web interface that can be accessed through the Network Device Command

Centre, making it easy to upgrade the switch software.

The next-generation switch also offers more flexible configuration options.

Emerson CSI 6500 ATG OPC server helps you integrate with third-party systems

View Problems in Real Time

The system comes with ATG View, a mobile application that receives data from the CSI 6500 ATG via Ethernet and/or a wireless router.

Authorized users can view protection status and health data from anywhere

on the plant’s Wi-Fi network, either from a PC or a device of their choice.

Supported devices include Apple iOS and Android phones and tablets.

The ATG view allows reliability professionals to see the overall health of the system,

alarm status, external inputs such as bypasses and outputs such as trips and whether they are active.

The CSI 6500 ATG displays all available information for critical devices, such as primary values,

trending data, status data, and predictive data (e.g., PeakVue values).

OPC server helps you integrate with third-party systems

For easy integration with third-party systems, the CSI 6500 ATG is the first protection

system to include a secure embedded OPC UA server.

The CSI 6500 ATG system meets traditional API 670 certification and is certified

for installation in demanding environments that require Class 1 Div2/ATEX Zone 2 certification.

Studies have shown that repairing a machine after it has failed is 50% more costly

than predicting failure and planning for the cost of repair.

For users whose budgets are not large enough to purchase both a protection system and a predictive system,

obtaining predictive data from the protection system is an incremental step toward improving insight into the health of assets.

ATG View provides asset health information to users anywhere in the plant network.
