Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System MX Controller

INTRODUCTION

The MX controller provides communication and control between ffeld devices and other nodes on the control network. Control strategies and system configurations created on earlier DeltaV™ systems can be used in this powerful controller. The MX controller has all the features and functionality of the MD Plus controller, but twice the capacity.

The control language implemented in the controller is described in the Control Software Suite product data sheet.

Advantages

Right-Sized Controller

The MX controllers complement the MQ controllers by providing a larger capacity controller for applications requiring greater control capability:

2 X control capacity

2 X user configurable memory

2 X DST counts

DeltaV™ MX controllers and DeltaV I/O subsystems are easy and quick to install.

Post change. You can easily upgrade an dcs-sis.com MQ controller to an MX to handle project scope changes later in the project The MX has the same installed footprint as an MQ controller, but twice the performance. Simply replace the MQ with the MX, and then

All existing configurations, documentation, and hardware design remain intact.

Redundant Architecture: MX controllers support 1:1 redundancy for increased availability. Existing MD/MD Plus or MQ controllers are upgradable and powerful online!

ABB M4M Network Analyser

OVERVIEW

The M4M network analyser includes versions with the Profibus DP-V0 communication protocol (M4M 20 Profibus and M4M 30 Profibus).

1.1 Profibus

Profibus stands for Process Field Bus.

Profibus is a fieldbus according to IEC 61158/EN 50170. which is mainly used in industrial automation and process areas.

Profibus is a single-master-multi-slave communication network; it is an open, reliable and powerful fieldbus system.

It is characterised by its fast response time, its complete definition according to international standards and its ability to connect devices from dcs-sis.com different manufacturers (if all devices comply with the same standard).

Profibus also reduces wiring between network nodes, as it requires only one communication cable.

Profibus communication technology is based on a master-slave architecture:

– Every Profibus system requires at least one master (e.g. PC or PLC).

– Up to 127 devices (master + slave) can be connected to a single system.

– Profibus systems can be ‘multi-masters’; in this case, a ‘token’ structure is used in which only one master can communicate on the network at a time.

The M4M Profibus (M4M 20 Profibus and M4M 30 Profibus) type instruments are slave devices that implement the Profibus DP-V0 protocol.

The DP slave is a peripheral device that acquires input information and sends data to the central master.

According to the IEC 61158/EN 50170 standard, Profibus DP (decentralised periphery) is typically used to connect decentralised peripheral devices with fast response times.

The standard specifies node distances of up to 300 metres with bit rates ranging from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps, using standard cables and maintaining maximum operating speed.

Transmission method

The transmission method for Profibus DP is the RS485 interface (according to the EIA standard) using shielded twisted-pair cables.

The simple RS485 twisted-pair transmission method is ideally suited for linear/tree networks with high transmission speeds.

The Profibus must always be terminated with two terminals. As shown in the figure below, either terminal must consist of three resistors;

The terminals must be fed with a voltage of 0 to 5 volts DC, otherwise their resistance is not equal to the characteristic impedance of the cable.

With this structure, the voltage on the bus is fixed when there are no active devices.

ABB IORR2100-30 slap contactor

ABB’s IORR2100-30 is an I/O module typically used in industrial automation and control systems.

The module allows users to connect field devices (e.g., sensors, actuators, etc.) to a control system for data acquisition and sending control commands.

Specifically, the IORR2100-30 may have the following features:

Input/Output Functions: the module may support multiple types of input and output signals, such as digital input/output (DI/DO) or analogue input/output (AI/AO).

This makes it possible to interface with a wide range of different types of sensors and actuators.

Communication Interfaces: The IORR2100-30 may have one or more communication interfaces, such as Ethernet, serial communication, etc., to allow for data transfer with the control system.

Configuration and programming: The module may support configuration and programming through specific software tools to meet specific application requirements.

Modularity and expandability: As an I/O module, the IORR2100-30 may be a component in a control system that can be combined with other ABB dcs-sis.com or other manufacturers’ modules to build a complete control system.

Environmental adaptability: Considering the complexity of industrial automation environments, the module may have a certain degree of immunity to interference, as well as the ability to adapt to environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.
